La Giuda Organic-Farm Holiday... a relaxing and stimulating holiday in a family atmosphere
Yesterday and today – the history of the farmhouse
The main buildings date back to the sixteenth century, and are a topographic landmark on regional maps. The farmhouse was one of many houses originally found on a large property that was inhabited by countrymen and sharecroppers up until the last century. Next to the main farm buildings is a small church that was built in the 1600 by the landlords of the area.
Elisabetta and her family bought the property in the late 80s from the last countryman living on the farm.
They had two aims: to restore the building to its original structure which had been damaged by many renovations, and to maintain and improve the existing agricultural cultivations that are typical of the region.
The five-hectare farm holding is completely organic and specializes in cultivating regional produce. There is a vineyard of Chianti D.O.C.G grapes and an olive grove with Tuscany I.G.P trees.
Guest accommodations comprise of three apartments that were built in the restored stables. The apartments feature original rustic chestnut beams, while the roof has been completely rebuilt using a ventilation system that ensures the apartments are warm in Winter and cool in Summer.
The apartments use renewable energy from solar panels that were installed in 2010.
Giorgia, and her mother Elisabetta, run the farm and personally take care of guests. Delicious breakfasts and dinners are cooked using local produce that comes from farm itself and surrounding areas.
Giorgia was born on the property, and grew up amongst the trees and vines. She has a European culinary degree and gives cooking lessons to Italian and foreign guests.
